As Halloween approaches, college students plan their schedules to create a perfect Halloween. Check out your college town for different events and spooky activities to do this season and try out some new things! There is no right way to celebrate Halloween, so whether you want to dress up with friends and have a movie night or go out and meet new ghouls, there is something for everyone to enjoy this year's Halloween.
Supporting a local haunted house
The first activity you can do, alone or with friends, is visiting a local haunted house. During the month of October, many people like to set up “haunted” houses in their own homes for neighbors and locals to enjoy. You can search for local haunted houses on Yelp or Facebook and check out the reviews to see if you dare visit one. Sometimes, these haunted houses are a show in itself because of how devoted the host is to the spirit of Halloween. Sometimes, the host will have different scare levels so that people of all ages can join the fun. The price to visit one of these haunted houses varies on various factors, but on average, the price to visit one of these is around $25.
Have a spooky night with your friends.
If you enjoy hanging out with your friends at someone's apartment, this option is the best for you. There are many things you can do with your close groups of friends that don’t involve much effort but can still be very fun. Having a scary movie marathon with your friends is a great way to get in the Halloween spirit. There are many great movie options that you can watch. Whether you prefer original scary movies or more light-hearted ones, you can never go wrong with either choice. To crank up the fun, ask your friends to bring a spooky treat for everyone to share. This way, you have a variety of snacks and treats to munch on during the movie.
Another activity you can do while hanging out with your friends is making snacks together to bond with one another. You could set up a candy apple station where you each decorate the apples and then enjoy them later! If you want to get creative, you can also build a gingerbread haunted house together and see how spooky you can make it!
Going to a pumpkin patch
You should always prioritize a pumpkin patch during Halloween because it is a timeless and classic Halloween activity. There are some college campuses where they host the pumpkin patch to raise money for the school, so if your college is hosting one this year, check it out and enjoy all of the activities. If you love to get all dressed up for pictures, this is a great spot to take Instagram-worthy pictures since it fits the fall aesthetic perfectly. Grab your best photographer friends and take pictures of each other enjoying the patch. Each pumpkin patch is unique and offers different activities for everyone to enjoy. Some pumpkin patches have a petting zoo where you can meet cute farm animals and feed them snacks. Other patches have local food vendors that offer yummy fall treats. More extensive patches offer train rides and even giant corn mazes you can escape from, and it is a fun way to spend an afternoon. Luckily, you can always attend a patch on your own, with a group of friends, or even your significant other.
Go to a Halloween party
If you want to get glammed up for Halloweent this year and put on an amazing costume, go to a costume party! There are always parties in the weekend leading up to Halloween. Even though this year Halloween will land on a Tuesday, that doesn’t stop college students from going out and having a great time. You can get the party started early by getting ready with all your friends for a night out. It is always fun getting ready together because you are getting hyped to the music together, helping each other choose outfits, and taking pictures for the gram! This idea works perfectly if your friendgroup is also doing a group costume! Once at the party you get to see other friends and dance to good music all night long.
Even if house parties are no longer your thing, you can also go out to clubs that are hosting a Halloween event with your friends. These types are more elevated because clubs tend to be seen as exclusive since people have to pay some sort of entrance fee. Clubs tend to have more variety in music and have special effects for the guests to enjoy. If you are a social butterfly you can always meet new people too and get to party with them.
Go to a Halloween Rave
Raving has become very popular over the last few years and there are raves themed after Halloween. These raves are put on during the weekend so you don’t have to worry about waking up for classes the next day. Since raves primarily have EDM music, this is a little more niche, but I highly recommend attending one because they are a lot of fun. You are able ti dress up as crazy as you want and the nice thing about it is that the rave community is very welcoming. Whether you are a first time raver or a raver at heart, this is a great way to catch live music and great performances. I highly recommend going with a big group of friends so that you can all take care of one another because raves are really big and thousands of people attend. You can use glow sticks and lights to dance along to the music and just let loose, it is the best time since it is around the end of the semester.
Regardless of what you like, there is always a way you are able to celebrate the spookiest time of year! So start planning out your month of October and try out one of the activities to get into the fall season! Remember to always be safe and responsible when you go out, happy hauntings!
