Hi Sorority Girls!! Maybe you’re here because you just accepted the position of recruitment chair, and you are STRESSED about figuring out each step of recruitment but most importantly want to make the Bid Day aspect PERFECT. Or maybe you’re here because you’re genuinely interested in what sorority bid day themes are like. Well... I’m here to share with you everything I know about bid day themes. 

First of all, let’s set the scene for bid day. Picture this: you’re sitting in a crowd of other girls who just went through the recruitment process and you’re now at the best part of the week gaining about 100-200 new sisters. Or you just got done with work week, sorority recruitment, and lots and lots of hard work and you get the chance to celebrate by welcoming the newest member class with open arms into sorority life and their new home. Either way, you are PUMPED! Bid Day is most definitely the best day of the year.

Now, let's talk about the themes. THE BEST PART ABOUT BID DAY! Each school differs with their themes but most importantly, different chapters have their own unique bid day theme. For Example, The University of Alabama has bid day themes that are very classy & fun. They focus on the sorority colors. Each call has a collective theme as chapter colors but can each have their own color theme. For example, Zeta Tau Alpha’s theme is Blue and White. Kappa Delta has a theme of Green and White. Delta Zeta has a theme of Pink and Green. Phi Mu has a theme of Pink and White. Although it may seem boring to some people, I think it’s so classy to have fun and bright colors on the row! Let’s take a look at the different sororities at The University of Alabama.

Now, let’s talk about the INSANELY COOL Bid-Day themes!! Many schools have each chapter choose the themes as a first come, first served basis. Typically, it is based off of the chapter’s overall GPA when deciding which chapter can choose first. You can see a little bit of everything from Hannah Montana to a snow-themed bid day, to disco theme, to Valentine’s Day.Let’s talk about themes that I think are just SO fun!!

“Tri Delta Airlines”

1. This theme was so unique to me! They were able to use the phrase “Fly Delta!” Tri Delta is literally the only sorority that can use this unique theme. They were able to make bid-day signs shaped like airplanes or plane tickets and have airplanes as props! The Clemson Tri-Delta chapter used this theme for MC ‘22. They used red, white and blue balloon arches, big letter props and a bouncy house!! They had lots of fun, the flight attendant and captain geared on making them look all ready for take-off

   “Lucky Me I’m A DDD”

This theme can be used for any sorority, and it is SO. CUTE. What I love most about this theme is the color scheme. The whole point of this theme is to mock the motto of Lucky Charms. With this being said, you can use all the colors in the cereal to make balloon arch’s and bid day signs! Another thing I especially love about what this chapter did with this theme was the Bid Day signs! They were able to use cut-outs of the Lucky Charms Cereal Pieces and it was ADORABLE! I was obsessed 

“New Bids on the Block”

This theme was so fun and different!! I love the correlation between Greek Life and the band New Kids on the Block! It was a great opportunity for unique props such as blow-up boom-boxes, telephones, microphones, and NEON COLORS! Can you tell I like colorful? I was also obsessed with the bid day signs being boom-boxes!

“Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”

I think this theme is so fun for not just Cyndi Lauper fans, but for anyone!! Ole Miss Pi Phi did this theme this year and was very successful with the pink, blue and orange balloons covering the house along with the 80’s costume and matching T-Shirts!! Georgia Southern KD had also done this theme in a previous year, and it looked so much fun! There are many ways you can have fun with this theme. But most importantly, you can pull out go-go boots!!

“Full Bloom”

1. I had actually never thought about a theme like this until I saw Ole Miss Chi Omega do it this year! They called this theme “Chi Omega in Full Bloom!” They used flowers for everything; flower balloons, flower jewelry and hair accessories, AND their Bid Day signs were flowers!! I think this theme is a very unique one for sure!

Guys, I seriously could go ON and ON about how cool some of these sorority bid day themes are!! Bid Day is a day to REMEMBER!! As a potential new member, you will probably be stalking every single sorority and their social media, if you’re invested enough at least! One of the things you probably will look at is how much fun Bid Day was the year before, and you will probably be hoping you can have just as much fun when you run home to your dream home! I cannot stress how important it is for the Bid Day themes to be as immaculate as possible. Like I said, Bid Day is the best day of the year, and you want that to be the best and most memorable day of your life!

If you’re a recruitment director looking for ideas for Bid Day, I hope this gave you some ideas to boil in your head! I can’t even begin to imagine how stressful this process of planning is for you. But just remember, think outside the box! Look at social media! Remember what is popular in today’s world and think to yourself, “I want to run home to that sorority on Bid Day!”
